What does it mean to be educated?

Your education should prepare you to step into and improve your community—fully activated into your own adult life.

Many of the jobs of the future don’t currently even exist. A good education develops a way of thinking that keeps you nimble and able to respond to—or even predict—what you will need for the future.

our approach

Why the Early College High School model?

The college model jumpstarts autonomy!

Students take ownership of their education from the enrollment process on. They decide what classes fit their interests, and unlike in conventional high schools, the college model allows them to drop classes that aren’t meeting their needs.

The college model better fits how students learn. Learning isn’t linear; flexibility allows students to build in time to process what is presented. They learn how they learn.

The college model allows students to take risks. Students develop a consciousness of what they are doing, and learn what is in their way.

College and high school credits

Our accelerated program is designed around the requirements for a California diploma. Students typically graduate with 200–260 credits—with up to 50 being college credits, too.

Grades 7–12

We offer classes to dedicated students in grades 7–12. All students are empowered to help create their own schedules, and have the privilege of leaving the campus for breaks.

Fully accredited

Main Street Scholars received a six-year accreditation from WASC, and is A–G approved by the University of California and The California State University system

Built-in work time

Sleep, play, social interaction, and downtime are all components of the learrning process. MSS has work time built into the schedule to minimize outside hours spent on schoolwork.
